I’ve passed by here three times.
A few years ago, this place looked exactly like the rest of the wasteland – dead. A nameless, lonely skeleton, an old martyr of the raiders, was treated by everyone as just part of the scenery.
Until a year ago when someone left a candle and a tin of carrots. What a foolish waste of food, right? But something inside me cracked anyway. And not only me, I guess.
Now, anyone passing by tries to leave a little bite to eat. Some do it for good luck, others to appease those who have passed on to their afterlife.
And someone, in a position like that, would have been happy with even a two-hundred-year-old carrot.
Maybe there’s something brighter waiting for us ahead?
Maybe… the world will change?
If only we change first?…
